INTROLONGBOARD MAPS │ VIDEO CLIPS │ TRICKS & TECHNIQUE │ FINDING FLOW

Imagine you could have the freedom of carving turns on a snowboard year round just outside your front door. Imagine you could surf a perfect swell everyday as you make your way to the train station, the grocery store, or the office. Introducing longboard skateboarding into your recreational repertoire makes these fantasies an everyday reality.

It is easy to see the current tendency to pave over anything and everything. In the words coined by Joni Mitchell, “pave paradise to put up parking lots”. This can be particularly disheartening in Japan where the economy is largely dependent on new work projects to keep the financial wheels turning. However, an eye for longboard skate routes changes the view dramatically. Japan’s countryside and city roads alike provide some of the best longboard skateboard locations in the world.

Major cities are packed full of smaller back streets with interesting fall lines and quiet expanses of pavement waiting to be discovered. In the more sparsely populated countryside, the abundance of mountains with well established two lane roads gracing their sides are free recreation areas awaiting first descents. Outdoor Japan is now your source of community and information about the paradigm transforming world of longboarding.
